Well, Folks, this is the Islanders '72 blog page, where we will post recent news and you can comment on it... your editors will be Quita Darnell-Nass and Bill Burns...
Quita and Bill, Great idea, this site will help many of us to keep in touch with friends that we have been unable to talk with for so many years. I would like to see more people use it. Let's make it work.
Living in Rancho Penasquitos since 1986. Have 2 kiddies. Erin (Nov. 1982) is a senior at SDSU and Kevin (Feb. 1985) is a junior at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. My husband George (married Nov. 1980) is newly retired at 52. I became a stay at home mom after working at General Dynamics (Industrial Engr. dept) which is were I met my husband. Have dwindled down our little zoo to one 16 year old cranky cat and two dogs, 9 year old white lab and a 9 month old basset hound. Pretty much have done just whatever I've wanted to do...raised the kids and volunteered oodles.
odd that the mailing showed up the very day I had spent with 2 Coronado folks - had lunch with my neighbor from Isabella Court, Will Keller. Then dinner with Joe Galvan....the cosmic connections are working! Kudos to Bill and Quita for their Islander spirit and technical ability that lets us hang out at the beach - digitally!
Thanks for the great website. At least once a year I travel to San Diego to visit my dad and brother Nathan (Class of '71). I'll be down in November for Aztec & Charger game(s).
I never fail to cross the Bridge and drive around the Rock. Always an Islander . . .
Hi All! Big Thank Yous to Quita and Bill for their great efforts in putting this site together! I too vote for something simple for a get-together. Beach, camping at Anza_Borrego in the spring.... When I saw that we have lost a few more of our friends since the 30th reunion,it saddened me some. Life is fragile and precious even more today than when we were young, dumb(at least in my case),and full of...energy. I miss you all and wish that each of you are fulfilling your dreams,a day at a time. In case you haven't heard it from someone close to you today,I will say it...I love and miss you all! Viva la Class of '72 GO Islanders!!!!! Semper Fi Chuck Aurora,Co
P.S. for Kristi McC...do you have an email addy for Dan or Tim?
Bill, just got here for wo'th time. Thanks for the hours that you put into this site. I am interested in reconnecting and your web site will facilitate it!
Bill: Thank you for the hours that you put into this site. I think that many of us would like to reconnect but live busy lives so it doesn't happen and time slips away. Your web site might make something very cool happen among us!
Bill, I had so many good times with you when we were kids. Tennis, chess, and just talking. You were a great friend. How's your son and how old is he now? And how is Jim, and his wife. I don't remember her name. Also say hi to Val for me. Would like to know how Val's brother Rick is doing. Kristi
Looking for some other old class mates. Its been a long time. I still drive thru Coronado mostly every day. I work at north island, Be there for 28 years, and wow how time go's by. I'm living in Chula Vista. So I did not wonder far. I live by my self. And thats ok with me.
I remember going to B.riles birthday party at Love's BBQ pit with 20 people. when they put the finger bowls on the table, i thought it was lemon soup. :-)
I love the lemon soup comment. Well, if you cant laugh at yourself, then you have a problem. Is there any consensus for a fire ring beach party thing/ tina christiansen
Happy Thanks Giving 2007 to all of the Islanders. I still have fond memories of a great school, and a greater time in my life. I to would love to talk to you all. Just to remember the days that were really they days. I'm single now been that way for 14 years. So I consider myself a bachelor. Or back in the S.P.L.H.C. Band. This was a group of us that would hang at the reservation. Down on the beach and sing songs there. Are you still with me. Please write me, Don't be shy, for I'm shy enough for every one. Lets talk about an impromptu get together bring the kids if you want. Let me know if you are interested. It will be a real fun time. So write me and maybe we can get a volley ball beach party together. Cook some food. Make sure Quita and bill get their. For we can thank them. Thank you all. Steven Clark Sclark920@aol.com
